How I will work with you

You may be contacting me following a personal recommendation, or perhaps you have come across my details independently, or your funeral director has connected us?

As your celebrant, my role is to work closely with you, using my expertise, to create a funeral ceremony that truly reflects your loved one: a celebration of their life and its legacy.

If you have engaged a funeral director, they will organise all the practical and legal arrangements necessary for the ceremony.

Once a date and place has been set,  I will make contact and arrange to meet you.  I will spend as much time as necessary with you, finding out all about your loved one.

Guided by you, I will talk to other family members, friends and acquaintances to gain as full a picture as possible of the person who has died.

My mission will be to compose a unique ceremony, put together with great care and focus on your person and their story. A bespoke ceremony will weave together different elements of your loved one's life: their character, passions, achievements, the good times, and possibly amusing occasions too.

You may choose to include special music, readings, prayers or poetry. If you would like suggestions for these, I can help.Once I have written a draft of the ceremony, I will share it with you so that, if need be, we can make any necessary edits.

At the funeral, I will deliver the ceremony with warmth and humanity, providing support, as needed, to anyone else making contributions.I will be there for you throughout the process, from our first telephone call and onwards to the funeral day itself.

Saying goodbye to someone who has died is so hard. I hope that by creating a memorable and fitting farewell, I can help you find some comfort and solace at their send-off.

Religious or spiritual elements

  •  A civil funeral ceremony can incude religious or spiritual elements.

  • If your loved one was religious and had a strong faith, it is likely their funeral will take place in a church or other religious building and be led by a minister or other appropriate spiritual leader.

  • Many people today may lack strong religious convictions or association with a particular faith, but still have some spiritual feelings and may find comfort in spiritual reflection, saying a prayer or singing a hymn.  It is absolutely possible to include such components as part of the funeral ceremony for your loved one.

  • If you would like some support in choosing an appropriate hymn or reading, again I am here to help and can make suggestions.
